What is Teela?

Teela is an AI-powered platform that lets you ask questions about your data in plain English. Instead of writing database queries or learning SQL, you simply type what you want to know, and Teela takes care of the rest. It translates your question into a query, runs it against your data, and presents the results in a clear, easy-to-read format.

Whether you need a quick number for a meeting, a chart for a report, or an ongoing view of how things are trending, Teela is designed to get you answers fast, without relying on a technical team.

Who is Teela for?​

Teela is built for anyone who has questions about their data but does not want to write code to get answers. That includes:

How does it work?​

At a high level, Teela works in three stages:

1. Connect your data​

An administrator connects Teela to your organization's data sources. This could be a database like SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL, or even a file like a Google Sheet, Excel workbook, or CSV. Once a connection is set up, Teela can see the structure of your data, including the tables, columns, and relationships that hold your information.

2. Teela learns about your data​

Teela does not just blindly query your database. Your admin can train Teela on your specific data by teaching it what your tables mean, what your column names represent, and how your business thinks about the information. This training step is what makes Teela so accurate. The more context it has, the better its answers become.

3. You ask questions​

Once everything is set up, you simply open Teela, pick a connection, and start typing. Ask something like "What were our total sales last month?" or "Show me the top 10 customers by revenue," and Teela handles the translation, execution, and presentation of results.

You can follow up on any answer with additional questions, drill down into specific results, or ask Teela to show the data in a different way.

Chat-based Q&A​

Teela's main interface is a simple chat. Type a question, get an answer. You can ask follow-up questions to refine or explore your results further, and Teela remembers the context of your conversation.

Ask from Slack​

Teela also answers questions directly in Slack. Mention the bot in a channel, open a thread for a conversation, or send a direct message and get a styled answer right there, without switching apps. See Ask from Slack for the full rundown.

Multiple data sources​

Teela supports a wide range of data sources:

  • Databases: SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL
  • Spreadsheets and files: Google Sheets, Excel, CSV

DataClips​

Found a question you will want to ask again? Save it as a DataClip. DataClips are saved queries that you can re-run anytime, share with your team, or add to a dashboard.

Dashboards​

Combine multiple DataClips into a single view with Dashboards. Dashboards give you a bird's-eye view of the metrics that matter most, all in one place.

Alerts​

Set up Alerts so Teela notifies you when something important changes in your data, like when a metric crosses a threshold or a value drops below expectations.

Scheduled Reports​

Need a regular update delivered to your inbox? Scheduled Reports let you automate recurring data deliveries so you never have to remember to run the same query again.

Results you can explore​

Teela presents answers as tables, charts, or plain-text summaries depending on the question. You can switch between views, drill down into rows, and explore your results interactively.

Meet Orko, the AI behind Teela​

Under the hood, Teela is powered by an AI query engine called Orko. Orko is responsible for understanding your natural-language questions, translating them into accurate database queries, and making sense of the results. Admin capabilities​
